“I don’t feel like it”

You ever have those days where you just don’t feel like it?

Don’t feel like getting out of bed, don’t feel like going to work, don’t even feel like doing the things you love the most? No? Okay, well this post is not for you so, go read “bitch, mind ya business” or something.

Now, if you are still here and not in denial (or a damn robot) we all have these days, some unfortunately exceedingly more than others. For each individual there is a different trigger, it can range from a ton of external stressors to exploding thoughts - either way, one is no heavier than the other. The “I don’t feel like it” phrase in this case doesn’t refer to us as lazy, in fact I have days where I literally crave to be productive but my mental is not where it needs to be. My mind has it’s own thing going on, that some days I find it extremely difficult to break out of it. So, even if I went to bed the night before with my list of productive tasks for the next day (which, if you know me that’s pure happiness to me) and wake up in an “I don’t feel like it” mood it’s not because I’m lazy or didn’t feel like doing it anyway - it’s because my desires and my mind are on two different wavelength at that moment.

I could have a million and one things to do, but if my mind & I are not working together, I HAVE to stop and take a moment for myself. It could be an affirmation nap (where I say positive affirmations as I fall asleep), a meditation practice, sitting outside or even listening to music basically anything that could bring you back to harmony with yourself. Now, don’t expect to do one meditation practice and come out of it feeling like Ghandi - It honestly does not work like that my friend. Find the one/one’s that work best for you, maybe you woke up and just don’t feel like going to work but you know you need to, so you try positive affirmations and visualizations because you know what you desire most. Or, for the days a cloud of “I don’t feel like it” showers over you and you still have 2 assignments due, dinner to cook and kids to put to bed. Remember to tune yourself in with your desires, even if you have to chant your affirmations aloud while you burn some sage or aromatherapy, get yourself where you want to be.

Some days you may be not be able to get over your “I don’t feel like it” mood by yourself and love, that’s okay. Call a friend, a parent or journal, don’t beat yourself up too hard because it happens to the best of us, believe me. Everybody has their own little battle to fight every day, but everyday is brand new - you’ll win some and you’ll lose some but you’ll have tomorrow to try again.
